Valve Covers and...

I put the motor together, checked the piston to valve clearance with Mr. Chris and some clay (no problem there), and realized I ordered the wrong oil pump pickup. So last night I logged on and purchased a new one...the wrong one again. So, this morning I re-ordered the correct pickup and then discovered that my favorite "Corvette" valve covers don't fit over the poly locks on the rocker studs. DAMN! Now I need new valve covers.


So I took the motor, covered it up in a nice new plastic bag (thanks Tom!) and rolled it to the back of the garage. Looks like time to get back to the bodywork until the parts come in.

What a garage is made for...

A garage is a place where you work until the late hours, installing a cam, or painting your hot rod...not a place to store folding chairs, boxes of tax returns and pink flamingos. A real garage has a nice big tool box, a hydraulic jack, and a box or two from your favorite mail order parts supplier.


Now my workbench is a mess, loaded with parts waiting to be installed and hundreds of little bags filled with screws, nuts and bolts for the Vette. My other workbench has the new trans on it, I removed the hydraulic throwout and installed the new front bearing retainer. Only problem was that they forgot to send the screws, so I need to run to the store this week to finish it.
